The Fundraising Preference Service (FPS)
The Fundraising Regulator is launching the Fundraising Preference Service (FPS) on Thursday 6th July.

So what is FPS?
FPS is an online based service that allows any member of the public in the UK to log on and manage communications they receive from charities registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (CCEW), and charities registered with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland (CCNI).
When you log on to the system, you will be asked to search for the charity whose communications you want to manage, using either the charity name or number. You can then decide whether you want to stop emails, telephone calls, addressed post, and/or text messages from them.
You can identify three charities in any one online request but should you wish to identify more, you can do so by submitting new requests.
More details and a list of FAQ’s are available on the Fundraising Regulator’s website.
So why are Scottish charities not included?
As part of a wider consultation, the Scottish Fundraising Working Group determined that FPS would not offer anything additional to the current legal requirements. Instead we will be concentrating on raising fundraising standards across Scotland. A fundamental part of that will be to ensure that charities understand the practical ramifications of these legal requirements. How do I stop communications from charities registered in Scotland?
If you want to stop communication from a Scottish charity you can continue to use the Telephone Preference Service and the Mail Preference Service. You can also continue to request charities remove your contact details from their system under Data Protection law.
