Panel Co-Chair scoops award at the Scottish Fundraising Awards 2024
Stephen Shirres, Co-Chair of the Scottish Fundraising Adjudication Panel received the Fundraising Excellence award at the Scottish Fundraising Awards on Tuesday 24th September 2024.
The awards, held at the Glasgow Doubletree by Hilton, celebrate the achievements of dedicated fundraisers and charity groups to their communities across Scotland.
The Fundraising Excellence award recognises those who have achieved great things as fundraisers and have made a significant contribution to the sector which benefits numerous fundraisers, charities and their supporters.
Alongside Stephen, the judges also recognised the contributions of Isla Campbell Lupton, Chair of the Scottish Fundraising Conference and Head of Fundraising and Communications at Cerebral Palsy Scotland at Tuesday’s awards ceremony.
Stephen received the award for his extraordinary contribution to the sector and his ability to make governance and fundraising regulation engaging and accessible. In addition to his role as Governance and Compliance Manager at Cats Protection, and volunteering on the Scottish Fundraising Adjudication Panel, Stephen shares his expertise through in-person and online training. Including, most recently, hosting training sessions at the North West fundraising conference earlier in September and the Scottish Fundraising Conference.
On receiving his award, Stephen said:
“I’m over the moon about winning the Fundraising Excellence Award 2024. However, what makes me most happy is that the award was partially given to acknowledge the work and importance of Fundraising Compliance, an often-overlooked area of fundraising.”
